Meet Our Trustees
The People driving excellence for our community.....
Shirley Hawkins - FCIPD
ChairI have been a trustee at the Tin Hat Centre for around 15 years, and eventually became the Chair.
The reason I do this is because I believe in everything that the centre stands for and want to contribute my skills in order to improve the centre and its situation.
I am backed by a small group of fellow trustees and our manager Chris, all who are also keen to take the centre forward and would encourage others to join our committee, as we need to broaden our skillsets and need people to held roll out the initiatives that we wish to implement.
Prior to this I was the Deputy Chair of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, another cause close to my heart, and was on their Board for 9 years (after which all trustees have committed to resign in order to keep a flow of trustees who are renewed.
Mike Hill
TrusteeI have been a trustee at the Selston Community Centre at the Tin Hat for around 1 year, I joined following conversation with our Chair, as I believe I can add value to the trustee's team through my background and skills given I firmly believe in what the centre stands for, promotes and supports within the wider community.
I am part of a small group of fellow trustees who are also keen to take the centre forward and would strongly encourage others to join our trustee's committee broadening its skills and knowledge accordingly to underpin and roll out our initiatives to protect the charity forwards.
I am also chair of the local 'not for profit' magazine Community News which promotes and supports local businesses ,local activities through schools, churches, education and general classes for people within the parishes to join, take part and benefit from.
My business life surrounded retail initially with Sainsbury's and then moved into packaging within Sales & Marketing progressing onto Project Management, General Management and latterly as Managing Director and then following acquisition I became National Sales & Marketing Director for the UK & Ireland so offer a broad range of experience to influence, organise and implement change where needed.
My main role now is to working with the Board of Trustee's to ensure delivery of our objectives to support and promote the charity which I really enjoy. However, we have challenges this year so anyone out there interested to join and bring new skills and energy (particularly within finance) you would be very welcome.

Trustee
Diane Herron-wright - MAAT
Trustee
I became a trustee in January 2025 with the aim of supporting the staff and other trustees with decision making and financial planning.
I am AAT qualified and have held a finance position in the education sector for many years. I understand the financial challenges that charities face and the need for strong leadership.
It is my hope that with continued support from the local and wider community the Tin Hat Centre will thrive for many more years to come.
